we all have them.
we wake up too late, we can’t get motivated, miss something, forget something, say something we don’t mean, can’t finish what we started, eat wrong, stay up late, procrastinate, think different, have defeating thoughts, etc, etc, ETC.
I prefer “off” to “bad” because we aren’t bad, we are just off our game; the days aren’t bad, just off their game. You know? With one or more of these, here are two things to keep in mind:
1) the bounce back: let’s do our best to make the “off” day(s) singular, not fall in to a self-perpatuating cycle of remembering how off yesterday was, feeling bad about it and yourself, continuing to fall deeper into the hole today, and tomorrow, and the next day, etc…no! Find your ways to come out of the spiral. For me, it’s the following:
-A killer workout
-A minute-by-minute plan for the next day
-Doing something spontaneous
-Doing great, giving things for other people
-Writing down what I’m excited about, grateful for, and reminding myself that I’m still me, and I will come back (stronger!)
2) forgiveness: off days happen. They aren’t the end of the world, and this one will soon be a memory. Also! They are typically happening for a reason. Find that reason.
Also, remember – if off days are a contrast to your typical days, then you are doing many things right 🙂
